The BRICS agreed to join 10 new "partner countries" in the final communiqué of the summit in Kazan.
For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the BRICS summit is witnessing the formation of a "multipolar world order," stressing Moscow's desire to confront Western "hegemony".
Addressing the leaders of countries led by China and India at the official opening of the summit, Putin said that "the path of forming a multipolar world order is currently underway, and it is a dynamic and irreversible path."
